Mental health illnesses are very common these days. Issues such as anxiety, depression and psychosis have taken a front seat in today’s generation. According to the Global Burden of Disease Study 2017, every one out of seven Indians has experienced some sort of mental illness of varying severity. If you think you require help, it’s best to get support and treatment as soon as you can. Seeking help early can speed up your recovery. We, as a society, haven’t normalised therapy yet. In this virtual age, actual human interaction has taken a back seat and people are becoming more anti-social. Just because you are coping with a mental health disorder, does not mean that you are different from the rest – this message should be communicated to the young generation.

A series of stressful life events such as losing a job, relationship issues, no work-life balance, bereavement or money issues can disrupt our well being. But there can be other factors, such as a hereditary history of mental illness. Most people who live with mental illnesses show mild to moderate symptoms and battle with conditions such as anxiety disorder or depression. Others live with less common but challenging conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or personality disorders.
